A recent job in the studio that admittedly has been on the ‘things to do’ list for quite some time is the Matt Glover Photography rebranding project. Like us here at Studio Rokit, Matt Glover Photography is a small company that’s always busy, hence it being on the ‘to do’ list for quite a wee while. Recently we managed to get out diaries together and got a chance to spend some quality time putting the finishing touches to the new identity which we had be toying with for a number of months.
To say that Matt has just the right name for the design treatment we used on his logo is a monumental understatement. Sometimes stuff just comes together that allows you to create a design that couldn’t happen otherwise. Our identity work for Matt Glover Photography is a perfect example of this.
Matt Glover Photography specialises in wedding photography and nothing sums up the very essence of weddings than the word ‘LOVE’. It’s strangely apt that there, slap bang in the middle of Matt’s last name is the word that a lot of his business revolves around. it’s all about love and when you look at Matt’s photography you get that.
Like all good artists Matt manages to capture singular moments and feelings like the proverbial lightening in a bottle, making images that always seem to delight and surprise his clients in equal measure. Now combined with his new branding the feeling of fun, people sharing a very special day together and love comes over stronger than ever before.
In design (and in a lot of other areas of life), sometimes the answer you’re looking for is there, siting in front of you in plain sight, you’ve just got to look carefully to see it and not let it pass you by.
The added advantage of the way Studio Rokit approached and resolved the Matt Glover Photography rebranding work (apart from it looking great) meant that we also avoided falling into many of the cliche’s and expectations associated with the wedding photography market. No floral script fonts, no horrible muted dusky pinks, not icons of cameras, no hearts; a cliche free zone.
We created a beautiful, strong, simple and hopefully unforgettable identity that will always be a source of conversation and help the company stand out in a sea of very average, bland, dull and ultimately forgettable logos.
